Loss Is Gain, Less Is Best, & Thanks For The Memories
![]()
Alas, I haven’t been posting much recently here. So, in lieu of green links/Yahoo related updates/etc. … let’s get personal. :)
1) While transferring data between two laptops, I lost about 15 years of personal documents (!). Discovery: I actually feel incredible ease and rel-ease. Surprise!!!
2) I am going through heavy metal chelation (again). It’s been five years since my bout with metal poisoning, but I am finally going through the final de-tox, and it can be rough.
Discovery: Metal detox doesn’t really put me in the mood to play ultimate or in a writing mood at home(thus no blog posts for some time) — but it pushes me even harder at work!
3) I am spending more time with my son, and Mom is getting more free time. Discovery: I feel like a great Dad. And Deb thinks so, too. :)
4) Work-related, family related all-around discovery: Some things, no matter how much people want them to happen more quickly, take the time they’re going take. Which is, usually, longer than you wish to wait.
5) If everything in life fell apart in my life (as in ‘I lost everything’), I would still have some amazing internal gifts to build it all up again with. And one of I them I owe to a bunch of guys I knew in Japan: The Lost Ronin. I hope that everybody gets a chance to play in a band once in their lives (and also play ultimate with the same group for a couple of years–and go drinking with them, and go to grad school with them, and go to a wild reggae concert on an island in Japan somewhere…).
Discovery: Playing in a band is better than karaoke.

I sent out emails to all of those ronin tonight, across the world. Rounin were samurai who wandered aimless after their master was killed. In your twenties, most people are ronin: they have no master, and they’re just wandering. We had the funnest time wandering…
Let’s see what happens…thanks for the memories, guys.
